Curriculum Educational Guide for the Study of the Encounter of Two Worlds (Secondary and Junior College Levels)
written and compiled by James J. Pancrazio

This teacher's guide provides extensive written-translated accounts and historical materials of the "encounter" (such as a letter written by Hernando Cortes). It also provides ready-made classroom activities designed to introduce and sensitize students to different "points of view" on the conquest. 43 pp.

A Teacher's Workbook On Tropical Rain Forests
by Carl Bouton

A 2-part teachers' guide to tropical rain forests in Latin America. Part I focuses on ecology and especially the geography and biodiversity of Latin American rain forests. Part II addresses the people of the rain forest, and is organized around the theme of sustainable use of the forest. 48 pp., 72 slides, and an updated bibliography.

Other Center Publications

Other Center publications include: the International Illinois Review, a resource guide for educators, written in collaboration with other UIUC Area Studies Centers; the CLACS Weekly Calendar, an electronic newsletter detailing Latin American related events at the UIUC and University of Chicago campuses; and an annual newsletter on Quechua instruction, Correo de Lingüística Andina.
