Lemann Graduate Fellowship for Brazilian Studies

2012-2013 Lemann Graduate Fellowship for Brazilian Studies

The Lemann Institute of Brazilian Studies offers fellowships to UIUC graduate students doing research about Brazil.

For the academic year 2012-2013, fellowships will pay $18,000.00. The Lemann Graduate Fellows will have tuition and fee waivers from LAS units and participating professional schools. The number of awards varies year to year and may depend on the strength of the applications received

* Note: The Lemann Graduate Fellows will have tuition and fee waivers from LAS units and participating professional schools. Not all campus units provide tuition/fee waivers in order to participate in the Fellowship program; you should confirm the availability of a waiver with your unit before applying.

Student Travel Grants

The Lemann Institute offers travel grants to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign graduate and undergraduate students who have been accepted to present papers at academic conferences in the U.S. and abroad. Any student can apply to up to 2 conferences in the U.S. per year OR 1 international conference.

Requirements to Apply:

  • Cover sheet (open)
  • Proof of acceptance to the conference
  • Title and abstract of the paper. The title should have the words “Brazil” or “Brazilian” in it (max. 350 words)
  • Letter of support from the advisor
  • Budget

Lemann Institute will offer up to $1,000 for a domestic conference and up to $ 2,000 for an international conference

Brazilian Leadership Fellowship Program

The Lemann Institute of Brazilian Studies together with supporting agencies in Brazil offers supports to Brazilian established governmental employees in pursuing a professional degree at UIUC.

Undergraduate Study Abroad Program in Brazil

Together with the Study Abroad Office, the Lemann Institute for Brazilian Studies funds study abroad scholarships to undergraduate students to take courses in Brazilian institutions and participate in specific study abroad programs aimed at Brazil. The scholarships can be awarded for semester, academic year or the summer and winter breaks. Application and selection is made through the Study Abroad Office.
